Kyrgyzstan is a country of amazing mountains and these mountains open us certain opportunities which can be achieved; we would like to tell you more about the peak Lenin as the peak located in the Osh region.

In the course of a tour in Kyrgyzstan you will be able to get to know the idea of the location. Starting to travel in Kyrgyzstan you will be able to find out details of the location of the peak - it may be seen while you travel near the border with Tajikistan. Usually tours are aimed at the proving of the information which tells the peak to be the highest one in the former Soviet Union. Most of alpinists have a desire to vault the top of 7134m above sea level.

It will be possible to find out that long time ago it was prohibited to travel in the mountains. Tours were also prohibited. But some local citizens managed to get the permission of starting tours to the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. The peak used to have the name in honor of the general - Peak Kaufman.

There have been made a lot of tours of explorers. In 1871 explorer A.P. Fedchanko travelled along the northern Pamirs.  The first expedition was made in 1929 and the team tried to make an investigation of the mountains. Then in 1934 the team of the Soviet Red Army made a vaulting and put the monument of Lenin. In 1967 the team of 301 people made a vaulting in dedication of 50th anniversary of the Soviet Union. They opened more than 16 new routes.

But there were also tragic attempts to vault the peak. In 1974 the group of women was taken by the storm. In 1991 the group was taken by an earthquake. So the mountains may be dangerous and it is of extreme recommendation to consult professionals before starting to travel in the very mountains.
